Regional Arts & Culture Council
Public Art Collection

In our region, public art enlivens urban and rural landscapes, promotes dialogue among people of all ages and backgrounds. Your Regional Arts & Culture Council helps acquire and maintain artworks owned by the City of Portland and Multnomah County through a variety of public-private partnerships, integrating a wide range of art into public spaces in the community that reflects a diversity of artistic disciplines and points of view. Our Public Art Program promotes education about public art through its collection and related programming; raises the public’s awareness of their environment; and expands the region’s knowledge and understanding of the arts.

The Public Art Collection consists of the Permanently Sited collection; the Portable Works collection, made up of two and three-dimensional artworks; the Visual Chronicle, a city-owned collection of works on paper focusing on artists’ views of the city’s social and urban landscapes; and the Murals Program, made up of murals supported in part by the City of Portland.

We hope you enjoy exploring the collection.
